We are currently seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to work closely with, support and learn from our finance team.

The job will offer a diverse mix of tasks across financial administration, assisting management accounting, double entry accounting and supporting our ERP system. We see this as a long-term role where you can develop and grow with us over time and would suit a candidate with some experience in a finance function who is looking to further develop their career in finance. Experience of finance operations within an engineering company would be desirable but not essential.

A state-of-the-art re-flight system means we can recover and reuse our technology, and innovations in separation mechanisms mean we leave no debris in space.

Having developed in-house production capability, we can 3D print complex engines, produce full-scale carbon composite fuel tanks, and have avionics and software testing labs in both Scotland and Denmark. Based in Forres, you will be right in the heart of this fast-paced cutting-edge company, gaining a unique insight into what it takes to build a new launch vehicle for a buoyant commercial market.

Job Description

As the Assistant Management Accountant based in Forres, you will be responsible for:-

  • Month end close - assist in the month end close procedures on Orbex’s recently installed ERP system and working with the Financial Controller to ensure that all month end close tasks are completed within agreed timelines
  • Management Accounts – assist with specific tasks in the preparation of the monthly Management Accounts
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliation - own and manage selected general ledger reconciliations. Reconciling and understanding the numbers behind the results and resolving reconciling items monthly
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly Project Spend Reports for all Departments and helping to resolve Engineers’ queries on these reports
  • Budgets and Forecasts - ad-hoc assistance as required in the budget and forecast process and preparation
  • Audit - assist during the annual audit with various audit sample requests. Prepare appropriate audit schedules, explanations, reconciliations
  • Regulatory/Statistical Compliance – assist with the preparation of statistical reporting information for both UK & APS as required
  • Holiday cover for the Accounts Payable person
  • Improvements - continuously look for process improvements, presenting ideas to make the finance function more efficient

Profile

  • Some experience working in a finance department, ideally with exposure to management accounting but not essential
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of double entry is required
  • Started or keen to start AAT, CIMA or ACCA
  • Inquisitive mind and a desire to learn and develop and grow with this exciting company
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Pride in your attention to detail and time management skills
  • Knowledge of basic Excel functions

Location

This role is based in Forres at Orbex’s headquarters.
