                    Orbex is looking for a Propulsion Manufacturing Manager to plan and oversee manufacturing operations for propulsion systems in Copenhagen.
You will be responsible for planning, coordinating and optimising our manufacturing capability and production efforts for all our propulsion hardware.
Key responsibilities of the role:
The Manufacturing Manager will plan and oversee the production infrastructure and process, coordinating all production activities and operations. You will look after a diverse multidisciplinary department that includes Additive Manufacturing, Precision Manufacturing, Welding and Assembly – Integration – Test teams.
Given the nature of the role and the complexity of the task at hand, experience in scaling up production and/or experience in managing manufacturing operations in a high-grade manufacturing industry such as space, launch vehicles, aerospace, motorsports or similar, would be beneficial.

Your role will involve, but not be limited to:
- Leading end-to-end production of propulsion system components in line with business and program schedules.
 - Optimising manufacturing processes and driving continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma principles.
 - Collaborating with design, logistics, and test teams to ensure manufacturability and seamless integration into test campaigns.
 - Defining facility requirements and overseeing installation, maintenance, and qualification of key manufacturing equipment.
 - Ensuring compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, ECSS, and health & safety standards.
 - Building, leading, and developing a high-performing production team with a strong culture of safety, precision, and accountability.
 
- Given the complex nature of the role, it is expected that you will have at least a degree, preferably higher education, in a relevant discipline such as aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, process engineering or another relevant discipline.
 - At least 5 years of experience in a Manufacturing or Production Leadership role
 - Ideally Additive (AM) and Precision Manufacturing experience applied in mechanical engineering, ideally for space or aerospace applications but not necessary
 - Previous experience in developing production process for in-house workshops
 - Understanding of contamination control, cleanliness standards, and precision assembly required for fluid systems.
 - Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT), pressure testing, and qualification testing of propulsion hardware.
 - Fluent in the English language.
 
- Experience in setting up First-time-production and/ore scaling up manufacturing infrastructure
 - Familiarity with propulsion-specific testing environments (e.g., hot fire tests, cryogenic systems, high-pressure plumbing, vacuum systems).
 - Strong knowledge of materials and their properties, specifically relating to metal machining (CNC and AM) including high performance nickel based alloys, aluminium and copper chromium zirconium specifically.
