Orbex are looking for a Health and Safety Officer to support the Orbex production facility in Copenhagen as well as our test site in Faxe.
You will be a key point of contact for our engineering team in Denmark and an essential advisor for the business on health, safety, environment and security.

We are well placed to be one of the first operational micro-launch companies in Europe with over €158m of project financing secured, a number of customers signed up, launch licence application submitted, and backing from organisations including UKSA and ESA.
We are a rapidly growing company with staff located between our production and test facilities in Forres, Scotland and Copenhagen, Denmark. Working on cutting-edge advances in rocket fuel technology, Prime’s carbon footprint is up to 96% lower than comparable vehicles, leading to innovations in propulsion and tank structures. A state-of-the-art re-flight system means we can recover and reuse our technology, and innovations in separation mechanisms mean we leave no debris in space.
Having developed in-house production capability, we can 3D print complex engines, produce full-scale carbon composite fuel tanks, and have avionics and software testing labs in both Scotland and Denmark. Based in Copenhagen, you will be right in the heart of this fast-paced cutting-edge company, using your skills to build a new launch vehicle for a buoyant commercial market.

Location
Our roles need to be on-site in Denmark due to the nature of the position, export controls and security. This role is based in Copenhagen at Orbex’s Danish propulsion engineering and manufacturing site.
You will be spending time both at the factory and our nearby rocket engine testing site, with occasional travel to our main factory, test and launch sites in Scotland.

You must be a UK or European citizen or from a country that is a signatory to the MTCR convention. You may be required to undergo a UK BPSS check which includes a criminal record check.

The Position
Your role will include a range of tasks and responsibilities, amongst which you will:
- Ensure Health and Safety (H&S) management systems for Orbex are implemented and maintained in accordance with relevant Danish, Environmental, H&S statutory provisions & legislation
- Ensure the implementation of the safety management and safe systems of work in line with statutory obligations
- Work closely with operational teams to support the development and monitoring of safe systems of work and risk assessments
- Provide advice, guidance, and instruction in all H&S matters to Management team, Safety representatives and Employees
- Lead and influence Heath and Safety (H&S) culture and promote positive attitudes and behaviours across all Orbex sites, by providing staff training including any new starters
- Ensure projects operate in compliance with all statutory and security requirements and best practices in accordance to Danish and EU law
- Support coordinate and lead (as necessary) the investigation of incidents to ensure effective learning outcomes, training and timely closure of actions
- Coordination in the development of Risk Assessments and Task Risk Assessments
- Carry out regular audits and inspection, document reports and establish corrective and preventive actions to prevent re-occurrence and continuous improvements
Qualifications and Experience
- 3+ years’ experience in H&S, ideally from hazardous and engineering environments like Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical, Maritime, Defence or similar
- Relevant Health & Safety Qualifications such as NIBOSH or OS&H and similar
- Strong knowledge of Danish Health & Safety legislation
- Proven knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and good practices including Pressure Equipment Directive, Pressure Safety Directives
- Effective communicator in Danish and English
- Ability to efficiently assess and manage all health and safety issues on site, including test sites
- Experience working with ATEX, IECEx or Explosive atmospheres is desirable
