A 10-month internship with the Orbex Software department to support work on behavioural simulations and Graphical overlays or the Orbex Prime Telemetry feeds.

Project Description:

Your time at Orbex will give you the opportunity to be immersed in the Software department to support work including, for example:

• Behavioural simulation capability for GSE and LV telemetry. (C++ And Python)
• Generation of graphical overlays on live camera data. (web-sockets, JavaScript and open-source frameworks for the graphical elements.)

The successful candidate will be integrated into the Ground Segment software engineering team and will be expected to attend Stand-up and for their work to be subjected to Code Review, meeting the same definitions of done as other non-launch related work.  They will be introduced to and apply software design concepts such as the open-closed principle and the implementation patterns that are used to achieve them.  They will be actively involved in the project planning and product design phases interacting with the product owner, architect and other engineers.  The successful delivery of these projects will provide the intern with real world experience to build upon as they embark on their own professional journey.

Minimum Requirements:

• Undertaking a degree in Electronics or Software Engineering;
• Basic knowledge of programming in Python / C++ / 
• Understanding of software development processes (for instance Waterfall, Agile, Iterative models);
• Being working in systematic and thorough ways throughout the development process;
• Demonstrable enthusiasm for the launch sector;
• To be based at Forres, Scotland for the duration of the internship;
• Strong English language skills; and,
• Must be a UK or EU citizen, or from a country that is a signatory to the MTCR.

Salary, £1933 per calendar month gross

You will be responsible for finding your accommodation and organising your travel to Forres, and the workplace each day. Any requirement to travel outside of Forres for business will be fully reimbursed. All equipment required to complete the internship will be provided.

We do not take responsibility for organising or paying for work visas for internships and do not expect to pay for any additional training courses that you may wish to undertake during the placement period.
